Now, on to the second part of that post title up there. Scrapbooks, Etc On Assignment challenge for June was to create a girl page using boy product, or a boy page using girl product. I thought this sounded like fun, so I headed down to my local scrapbook store and picked me up a bit of Echo Park Paper Co‘s Little Boy line. I knew I wanted to do a page about Lexie’s accomplishments this year, so I ended up with this:
The yellow paper is Jillibean, ribbon is Cosmo Cricket, brads are Basic Grey, letter stickers are Studio Calico, and the patterned papers, border, and labels are Echo Park. When I saw the stars and the planes in the clouds, I had to use this phrase. To give the page a more feminine feel I used mostly soft colors, alpha stickers with the rounded script font, a white apron lace punched border, flowers, and a pleated ribbon border.
I thought I would share a quick and easy tutorial with you on how to create those funky flowers. Sound good? Alrighty then, here goes:
1. Cut seven thin strips of paper (double sided) of the same width, but slightly varying lengths. Mine range between 2-3 inches.
2. Carefully fold over the strips without creasing them and adhere the ends together.
3. Punch a small hole (1/8 inch) at the end of each loop with a hole punch or paper piercer.
4. Stack the loops onto a brad and arrange as desired. Adhere to your page using a pop dot and place a small drop of glue underneath each petal so the flower maintains its shape. Enjoy!
Such a fun blog! Great projects!
