My hubby and I had the chance to take an all expenses paid trip to Shanghai China last fall and had a wonderful experience (CLICK HERE to read about it). After we got home I wanted to make a mini-album of our trip photos for my hubby for Christmas, but life got too busy. So, it ended up being a birthday gift this summer and I wanted to share the final product. This album was featured on the Scrapbook and Cards Today blog on Tuesday.
For the cover I used some Echo Park For The Record papers and stickers, Teresa Collins travel card and icons, Jillibean corrugated alphas and an American Crafts 8×8 modern album.
The first page is a pocket page which includes some of the money we saved from our trip. Pockets are a great way to include memorabilia on travel pages. I just sewed the edges of the pocket (October Afternoon paper) to the Teresa Collins itinerary page. I used glue dots to adhere the coins to a Jillibean kraft tag–love those!
Here are the inside pages:
For these pags I used Picasa (free photo editing software from Google–download here) to create 7.5 x 7.5 inch collages which I printed as 8×10 enlargements. I used two October Afternoon 8×8 paper pads to save me the time of trimming 12×12 pages down. I embellished with Jillibean Soup kraft tags, travel twill, and a globe stamp. I also added some Teresa Collins travel icons as well. I tried to keep the pages and design fairly simple because the story and photos are my focus here. Plus my dear husband likes it better this way. =) Keeping to the same basic design on each page gives it a cohesive feel as well. I finished this album in less than a day, which is good because I don’t have a lot of spare time for huge long album projects right now. Our family albums take me at least a year to complete (scrapping pages as I have time).

I love what you did with this–a terrific album! And how jealous am I that you went to China!
