decking the halls

One of my favorite family traditions is that every year over Thanksgiving weekend we get out the Christmas decorations and deck our halls.  It’s the best time for us to do it since Derek’s home and we’ve got extra time.  Plus I love having everything up early enough that it’s worth the effort and we get to enjoy it all for at least a month.

Our living room is still full of boxes since we didn’t quite get everything done. We’ll finish up tonight for family night.

And we discovered that half of our tree lights are broken, so we’re stuck in limbo until I hit the store today.

I hung up the advent countdown and added the scripture verses for each night. I just need to pick up some candy and goodies to stuff in the boxes for the kids. This is one of my favorite Christmas traditions.

We’ve got four nativities–the three smaller ones are out and I’ll get the big one up today.  I can’t wait to finish getting everything out and to start focusing on the reason for this most wonderful of all seasons!

What are some of your favorite holiday traditions?  When do you do decorate your home?
