creative memories blog hop!!

If you’ve landed on my blog from Gretchen McElveen’s blog, then you’re in the right place!  Using the gorgeous new Enchanted Power Palette I created a single page layout, a double page layout, and a card to share.

These are some pictures of me with some scrappy friends at CHA Winter 2010.  I created the paper loop border at the bottom by trimming 1×3 inch strips of various papers, adhering the ends together (careful not to crease them), and arranging them across the bottom of the page.

As I’ve worked with the die cut paper ribbons (LOVE those!) I’ve noticed that the “negative space” left when you pull the ribbon off the backing looks pretty cool!  So I’ve been saving those up to use on other projects, and that’s exactly what I did with this card.  I adhered the green ribbon backing to a strip of green grid paper before adding it to the card to create a cool border.

Over the last year I’ve decided it’s okay to use different color backgrounds for two page layouts.  It adds a bit more interest, and I don’t always have two of the same color sheets of cardstock.  How do you make the two pages look like they’re one whole layout?  You can use a common border (like the black paper ribbon), a common accent or embellishment (like the flowers and the flag journaling spots), or similar photos (all of the photos are of my daughter and she’s wearing pink in each one).  Here’s one more paper ribbon tip: I used some green paper ribbon cut in half the long way next to my title.

Oh my!  There are so many things I love about this new Power Palette!!  I LOVE the new bling–how fun is that??  I love the embossed cardstock, the die cut self-adhesive paper ribbon, I love the fabulous color scheme–so versatile!  You can use it for holidays, masculine pages, everyday pages, spring pages, girl pages, and the list goes on.
