I created this layout recently to help market a We R Memory Keepers cardstock pad for Archivers. This is a photo from our last trip to the Gulf Coast before we moved out west. There are a lot of fun things going on with this page–I really wanted to focus on the versatility of cardstock, and all the fun and cool techniques you can use with it. So…this is what I came up with (pardon the glare on the custom buttons):
I punched cardstock wave borders, layered them, and cut them out into a larger wave shape. To add some shimmer and dimension I painted a thick coat of Mod Podge over it, and then sprinkled some Martha Stewart clear glass micro-beads. The Mod Podge holds them on perfectly, as long as you use a thick enough coating.
I also did some misting with my new Studio Calico Mister Huey mists I got from ScrapbookSteals.com. I started with some Heirloom Blue, and then cut out some cloud shapes to use as masks. Then I sprayed quite a bit of Opaque White and removed the masks. Once it dried, I outlined the clouds with a grey felt tip pen to add some definition.
I used my Crop-A-Dile III to emboss the sun and then I sanded the embosses shapes. I added some hand-stitched loop-de-loop sun rays with my Sew Easy tool and some WRMK variegated floss.
Lastly, I sanded and distressed the edges of the beach to give it some depth and texture. Lots of fun things you can do with cardstock, and I love the colors of this particular pad!
Just love this layout…living in Alabama, I feel like I'm there!
