15 days of gratitude: the journal

I’m so excited to share this project with you!  Here’s a little background on it: one of my goals this year is to focus on the good and positive things in my life, to count my blessings.  I decided that November would be the perfect time to keep a gratitude journal to not only focus on my blessings, but to record them as well.

Here’s how it works:  starting this Thursday, November 8th I’ll write down five things I’m grateful for each day until Thanksgiving Day (Thurs, Nov 22nd).  On the last day I will also write down my feelings, thoughts, and experiences during this project–maybe how my perspective changed, or anything I noticed in my outlook on life while recording my blessings.  Maybe I’ll even write something about our Thanksgiving Day.

For my journal covers I used a vintage chapter book that I got at a thrift store for 50 cents, and I removed the inside pages.  If you’re interested in learning how I created the journal itself you can visit the Scrapbook and Cards Today magazine blog where this project is featured today.

I selected papers, journaling cards, and embellishments from my stash that complimented the vintage feel I was going for, and I included various envelopes, pockets, and glassine bags for memorabilia.  Each page also has room for my journaling and a photo(s) if I feel like I need to take one to tell my story.  The pages also stand alone just fine in case I don’t need a photo for that day.  I used the new We R Memory Keepers Bracket Tab Punch and Stickers to mark each day, and my Cinch machine to bind it all together.

Take a look at the inside pages:

As I keep this journal over the next two weeks I’ll be posting some updates on how it’s going.  You’re welcome to join me in this project–if you do, I’d love for you to link me up so I can see your project too.  Happy crafting!

  1. What a great project you've come up with! I love it!! I'm heading to my studio right now to see what I can come up with. Thanks for the reminder to be thankful every single day.

  2. Is the spine of your book still attached to the front and back covers? If so,how did you punch that?
