anna griffin paper weaving kit

The last new kit Anna sold on HSN this month is the Paper Weaving Kit.  With it you can create both 12×12 scrapbook page backgrounds and 5×7 card backgrounds.  You get tons of pre-cut strips plus a sheet of verticle strips held together by a strip at the top that is perforated and can be pulled off once you’re done weaving.  That way you’re not trying to keep your strips from coming undone as you weave, and you don’t need a separate base page.  I think this kit is genius, and makes paper weaving so easy–much easier than doing it on your own.  Here are my cards:

With the above card I wanted to demonstrate how you can create a neutral but visually interesting background with the weaving.  I chose similar colors and the weaving pattern is just the basic checker board.    I love the look it creates–at first glance it looks like a boring beige background, but when you look closely you can see the weaving of the different pattern papers.

For this card I used more contrast in the colors I selected and I used a bolder larger weaving pattern.  This one is called the ladder pattern.

Here are a couple of scrapbook pages.  On the above page, again, I used more contrasting colors so that the fun chevron weaving pattern would show through.  In order for this large pattern to translate well and come through I had to design my page so that the major elements were in opposite corners.  The dark border frames the beautiful weaving pattern and draws the eye to it.

For this page I went with a monochromatic color scheme echoing the circular beach pod in the photo with a circular frame for the beautiful patchwork weaving pattern.

The colors and patterns in this kit coordinate with all of Anna’s papers (and any other papers you may have on hand) and they fit together beautifully.

  1. I have just watched Anna on QVCUK and loved this idea. I have done paper weaving before, but I never thought about trying to do patterns like I do in patchwork and quilting. Fantastic idea . Janice Small England.
