Pleating paper is a very popular paper crafting technique that adds instant wow factor to any project. Anna Griffin has some pleating paper kits such as the ones seen on the projects below, but you can create your own just by simply cutting patterned paper strips, scoring them every 1/4 inch, and then fan-folding them. (I’ve found the scoring ahead of time really makes the folding easier!)
Here are two examples of Christmas tree ideas–the card above using pleated strips, tilted for a whimsical feel. For the layout below I used graduated sizes of strips and pinched one end together before hot gluing them overlapping each other to form the tree. The star shine is formed by gluing ends of the pleated strip together and flattening it out before gluing onto the tree.
I love the pleated trees…I would love to life this one. thanks
Once again, very beautiful work! I am envious! Love the pleats! Thanks for sharing this with us!
