anna griffin cuttlebug embossing folders, part 1

Did you get a chance to see Anna on HSN last Wednesday?  Did you notice what the Today’s Special was? That’s right!  Anna Griffin teamed up with Provo Craft to bring you her beloved classic patterns in the form of Cuttlebug Embossing Folders.  I was so excited when I heard about this!  What a great partnership–Anna’s patterns and designs really lend themselves to the gorgeous look of dry embossing. Take a look at some cards I created below:

For the card above I used several border folders (which you can run through the machine in multiples since they’re skinny and small) and lightly inked them for added definition.

For the above card I embossed the cardstock with the Rosa pattern embossing folder, cut out an oval shape using my Creative Memories Custom Cutting System and Oval Patterns, and then used some Tim Holtz Fantastix coloring tools to ink the embossed designs with new Anna Griffin ink pads (woo hoo!) which match her paper products perfectly.

On this bridal shower card I stamped plain ivory cardstock with Anna’s background stamps and inks, and then folded it (be sure to carefully score first) to create a lovely little fan.  I recommend using the less intricate patterns for paper folding.

This card includes a cool technique–I punched butterflies from ivory stamped cardstock, and adhered them to the blue cardstock before placing it in the embossing folder.  The butterflies look like they’re embedded in the blue cardstock.  Tip: this works best with liquid adhesive after if has dried.

For this wedding card I used the border folder to create a mitered border around the sentiment, and then I embossed a different color cardstock with the full sized folder and trimmed some of the roses out.  I inked them lightly before adding some pearl centers.

For this last card I embossed some plain ivory cardstock, cut out parts of the design, and added them as a border around the card.  I also added some self adhesive mini pearls to the embossed design–I love the elegant feel they add to the card.  Come back next week for more embossing folder projects.

  1. Saw the blue card on Pinterest and loved it. You did some beautiful things with these folders. I bought them all after seeing your card and can't wait to try some of your techniques!
