stamping on a layout

Yesterday I shared a layout on the Echo Park Paper blog using some of their new Designer Dies & Stamps from the Fine and Dandy collection.

I definitely stamp, but I wouldn’t call myself a “stamper”. I don’t have the patience for perfection that some stampers do and I don’t have the skills or knowledge to get perfect impressions every time. Stamping on a layout makes me nervous because I just know I’m going to mess it up, and then I’ll have to start the page all over again. Not fun, and not worth my time.
That’s what I love about die & stamp combos because you can stamp on a separate piece of cardstock, die cut a perfect shape, and then add it to your layout without the worry.

Plus you can alter or customize your stamp which is much more fun than just a plain stamped image. Check out this fun stamped camera accent! Here’s how to make one yourself (they’re easy!):
I started by stamping the camera icon in blue ink and then die cutting it.

Then I stamped the image again in green ink and used my 1” circle punch to punch out just the camera lens. I adhered it to the blue camera with a foam square for added dimension, and then topped it off with a heart enamel shape.

Even if you’re like me a not a “stamper” this technique is super easy and looks great. Give it a try!
