global family reunion

Last weekend my girls and I attended our local Global Family Reunion Block Party at the Salt Lake Family History Library. If you’re not familiar with the Global Family Reunion event founded by best-selling author, A.J. Jacobs, you can read more about it HERE. There were over 40 reunion parties around the world that day–what an awesome concept!

My girls and I had a great time watching cultural dance and music performances, playing on the bounce houses, eating  yummy food, and getting faces painted. It was all free (except for the food) and was so worth the time. They even took the largest family photo ever–each even took one that will be combined with all the others. Best of all, my girls were being taught the value of family on a personal and global level. The idea that all of us are truly brothers and sisters and that we should treat each other with respect, understanding, and tolerance was reinforced in my girls and I loved that.

Here are some photos from our fun day. We did get a little silly sometimes. =)

Being a memory keeper I was thrilled to attend and show my support for such an amazing event about the importance of family, family history, and storytelling. If the event happens again next year, I’ll definitely be there!
