Summer vacation begins soon here which means I’m busy arranging an engaging summer schedule for my kiddos. That schedule always includes two of our favorite things, craft projects and a summer reading program. So, today I’m sharing a great craft project for older kids, tweens and teens that connects both of our favorite summer activities–pom pom bookmarks!
My kids love our local library’s summer reading program, so they’ve always got a book in hand.
But it seems like we’re always looking for a bookmark at our house, so spending some time making a few extras is a great summer activity for us to do together.
These pom pom bookmarks are easy to make. My girls and I used the We R Memory Keepers DIY Party Pom Pom Maker. There are also other ways to make pom poms which are easy to find with a simple internet search.
We made two pom poms for each bookmark and tied them together.
Check out this short video tutorial I made showing how easy it is to use the Pom Pom Maker.
Once you finish tying your pom poms together, simply slip the bookmark into your book to save your page!
My girls and I had a blast making pom poms. It’s easy, fun, and slightly addicting!
We each made a pom pom bookmark for our summer reading. So fun!
These would make a great handmade gift for friends, teachers, or neighbors as well.
So, how about you? How do you keep your kids or grandkids busy during summer vacation? Do you enjoy summer reading programs?
