paper fringe wedding invitations, gift box, & layout

Paper fringe is cool. So cool, in fact, that I think an entire wedding, shower, or other celebration could happen with that very theme. Just picture it–a paper fringe party. So festive and fun! With that in mind, today I’m sharing a few projects I created for a wedding set, including paper fringe wedding invitations, a paper fringe gift box, and a paper fringe scrapbook page.

Recently I shared these projects on a local lifestyle show, Studio 5. You can catch the video of that segment HERE. They’re part of an entire set with a backdrop and banner.

For small-scale paper fringe projects, I love to use fringe scissors. Since they have five blades, you can cut multiple lines at a time and save yourself some time when making fringe.

When cutting into the paper, be sure to leave about 1/2 inch at the top for your adhesive so you can stick it to your project. Also, as you’re cutting across your paper try to leave even spaces between your series of cuts.

I went with an ombre pattern of solid cardstock, but you could mix your favorite colors to create stripes, or stick with a solid color.

For this scrapbook layout I picked a design that allowed the fringe to really show off. This would look so pretty framed!

I repeated the ombre pattern in this set of wedding invitations. I included the text on top, and added the fringe underneath.

For this pretty gift box, I cut fringe into both edges of a 4″ wide strip of cardstock, leaving a 1 inch center. Then I wrapped it around the box to create a fringe belly band.

I’m so in love with the fun throwback feel to fringe, plus it adds great texture to any project. What about you? Would you use paper fringe in your party or event decor?
