diy donut decor | part 1

Donuts are super trendy right now in design and decor, and donut parties are taking the blogosphere by storm. Not only are these little guys cute and yummy, they’re sure to bring a smile to just about any face. Whether you prefer to purchase your party decor and supplies, or DIY them, using a donut theme for a party is an easy and versatile way to go.

Donut themed parties are perfect for birthdays of any age, baby and bridal showers, office parties, and just about any other celebration or seasonal event. Seasonal donuts are readily available so think pumpkin spice donuts and hot chocolate for fall, pastel frosted donuts with sprinkles and lemonade for spring. Gourmet donut shops are popping up everywhere, so it’s easy to find pretty and tasty treats to make a donut “cake”.

Grab your favorite donuts at the store and stack them up on a pretty platter or cake plate and you’re ready to go! Add a cake topper, party picks, or flags to dress it up.

Donuts and milk are a perfect match, so fill some mason jars or glass bottles with milk. Adding decorative paper straws and a simple strip of donut scrapbook paper takes your party decor up a notch.

If you’d like to add flags to your paper straws or cake picks you can download the free donut party printable flags below.

I’ve also got a free printable donut party sign that you can download below. You can see it framed in the photo above. For my sign I added some cut out donuts with dimensional adhesive to give it a little extra pop. Below is what the printable version looks like.

Another easy way to serve donuts at a party is on bamboo skewers. I like to call this donuts on a stick! You can lay them out on a tray, or prop them up in a glass serving bowl like I did. This also works well with donut holes.

I’ve got some more great DIY Donut Party projects to share with you on Friday, so be sure to come back then. I’ll show you how to make an easy donut party backdrop and DIY donut garland, including a very cool craft hack!
