Hi there friends. Now that we’ve put all the Christmas stuff away at our house, it’s time to start decorating for Valentine’s Day! I really wanted a wreath for my front door, so I decided to make a hoop wreath that could last from now through the early spring. I’ve wanted to make a hoop wreath for a while now with wire handlettering inside and I’ll show you how to do it!
I’ve had my eye on the wire handlettering trend for a while, so I was super excited when the Big Happy Jig was released by We R Memory Keepers so I could make my own wire words!
I started my project by making the wire word using my Big Happy Jig. The Big Happy Jig works just like the smaller size Happy Jig, only on a much larger scale. It comes with a booklet full of instructions and 20 templates for making fun shapes and words. It also has all the pegs you need to create those shapes, wire cutters and some wire to get you started. You can also use the 80+ free templates available on the @werhappyjig Instagram account.
It was easy to follow the included instructions and template for placing the pegs on the board. Then I wrapped the wire around to form the word “love”. The wire is amazing! It’s easy to bend and work with but incredibly strong and won’t crack or break.
I picked up the 18 inch gold hoop wreath at my local craft store, hot glued some silk flowers and greenery to it, and then I left some extra wire at each end of my word so I could wrap it around the hoop to secure it. Place a little dot of hot glue under the wrapped wire on the back of the hoop to keep it from sliding around.
This project is ideal for Valentine’s Day decor, wedding decor and more. The colors will also take you into spring, so I plan on leaving this wreath on my front door for a few months. I’m so excited about the possibilities with this awesome new tool, and I have lots of ideas for future wreaths and other projects!
