Hey there friends! While we were sick at our house, I had to put a pause on some posts I wanted to schedule. I know Halloween’s over, and I’m totally ready for the holidays, but I just had to share this fun idea with you. This black and white party idea could obviously work as Halloween party decor, but if you have a loved one who’s celebrating an over the hill birthday, this would work great too!
This Halloween season I’ve been inspired by ravens, owls, moths, and other vintage style critter images. I wanted to create something like that for my cupcake toppers, but I didn’t have a Halloween themed stamp that looked anything like that. So, I grabbed my Precision Press Advanced, a set of bird layered stamps, some silver, grey, and black ink pads, and went to work!
I love the monochromatic colors! They’re perfect for Halloween party treats, or as cupcake toppers for an over the hill birthday party.
When using layered stamps I recommend starting with the lightest color of ink first, and then working in order to the darkest.
Once I stamped all of my black birds, I used my Detail Scissors to fussy cut the shapes. To dress up my cupcakes, I made some cupcake wrappers with the DIY Party Board and some black patterned paper.
Then I glued the wrappers together, and glued some black and write striped paper straw sections to my blackbirds with the USB Power Mini Glue Gun. Hot glue is my go-to adhesive for 3D paper crafts.
To finish off my cupcake toppers, I added black seguin stickers for the eyes, and black bows I made with the some black floss.
I love the texture that the monochromatic colors and the layered stamps create!
The toppers together with the black marble cupcake wrappers look pretty cool too!
Whether you use this black and white cupcake toppers for your Halloween Party or for an over the hill birthday party, they’ll be the star of the show! Thanks for stopping by, and I promise holiday posts are coming soon!
