Just squeaking under the wire with this DIY Valentine’s Day Gift for my hubby. I wanted to include some recent photos of us and some handwritten journaling, but I also wanted to make this gift interactive and unique. So, I decided to grab a box of beautiful blank cards and make my own photo/scrapbook album to celebrate my very favorite person. Check it out!
I used the Maggie Holmes Marigold Boxed Card Set, and picked half a dozen that I really love. I made sure to pick one for the cover with the perfect title, then the others I picked are pretty patterns I wanted to include.
Some of the cards I cut in half to create single pages. I bound all the cards together with the Disc Power Punch and some planner discs. That way I can easily remove and replace pages without tearing them.
I used some of the patterned cards to make angled pockets to hold tags with journaling. I made them easily with The Works All In One Tool. I used the tag making guide to line up the front of the card at an angle, cut off about half of the front, and then adhered the bottom and right side closed to form the pocket.
I used some ephemera, stickers, and embellishments from the Marigold collection inside the album, included five of my fave photos of me and the hubs, and added some journaling about why he’s so special to me.
I punched some photo corner from paper scraps with my Photo Corner Embossing Punch to add some interest to a few of my pages. I LOVE that punch! It’s so convenient and easy to use.
I can’t wait to share this with my valentine! I love making him gifts like this and thankfully he enjoys getting them. This was such an easy and fun way to make this special photo album for him. This would also make a great DIY journal, planner, or notebook if you add lined paper. Give it a try!
You are so creative and talented!! I could never come up with ideas like this, but thanks to you, I can do my own simplified version!
