9th day of christmas: last minute DIY holiday gift tags

Let’s face it. No matter how organized or ahead-of-the-game we are, there are always at least a few gifts or goodies to deliver at the last minute before Christmas Day. (Or lots of them if you’re me.) So…to help out with those last minutes gifts, here’s an easy idea for quick and cute DIY holiday gift tags.

I chose some double sided scrapbook paper from an older Echo Park Paper collection. You can use any double sided decorative Christmas paper or gift wrap that you have on hand. Cut your paper into 2 x 4 1/2 inch strips. Then use some craft punches to create a tag shape. I used the We R Memory Keepers DIY Party Tag Punch, but you could also use decorative corner punches and a hole punch.

Then I used my We R Memory Keepers Banner Punch Board (seriously one of my favorite tools) to cut some small triangles from green cardstock and decorative paper–half of them are 1 1/2″ high, and the other half are 1″ high. You could use some scissors or a paper trimmer to cut your triangles if you don’t have a Banner Punch Board.

Then I added the triangles to the bottom right side of the tag and layered them slightly to look like little Christmas trees. To finish off my tags, I added some twine and writing in white. I LOVE the Chalk Markers from American Crafts–perfect for black cardstock or chalkboard paper.

I hope this easy DIY holiday tag idea helps make your last minute gifts come together more smoothly this week. Can’t wait for Friday! How about you?
