My daughters and I love coming up with clever, creative, but simple DIY Valentine’s each year. We’ve done 3D photo valentines, Smarties valentines, and interactive valentines. This year we decided to go with sugar free gum valentines. Check it out:
I bought some Extra Raindow Sherbert sugar-free dessert gum–yummy and sweet, but no sugar. Makes both moms and kids happy! I used my Cricut machine to cut out a 3.75 x 4.75 inch postage stamp shape for the card bases using the Creative Memories Traveler Cricut Cartridge and We R Memory Keepers new Crazy For You patterned papers. If you don’t have a die cutting machine, you can just cut 3.75 x 4.75 inch pieces of patterned paper.
I created a text box using my new favorite font, Tall Films, and then printed several out. I even made an 8.5×11 free printable download with cutting guides for you if you’d like to make your own. Just click on the image to enlarge, then right click and select SAVE AS. Save it to your hard drive and then print it just like you would any photo or image. If you don’t have photo editing software, you can insert it into a Word doc and enlarge it to fit the whole page.

My daughter cut the text boxes out, used some double sided tape to attach a stick of gum, tied some We R Memory Keepers baker’s twine around it, and then used double sided tape to add them to the card bases. We finished them off with small punched out hearts stuck on with foam squares for a little dimension. Easy, fun, and cute!

Hi Christi, we didn't photograph the Smarties valentines, but basically I photographed my daughter holding two hands flat out like she was holding something in her hands in front of her, then I added some text to the photo in photoshop saying, "Hey Smartypants…be my valentine!" Then we added the Smarties to the photos on top of her hands with glue dots. Hope that helps. =)
